Title: Amends the Makeup of the Criminal Justice Services Board
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that amends and diversifies the makeup of the Criminal Justice Services Board.
Establishes the Criminal Justice Services Board as a policy board consisting of 32 members, 12 of which shall be specific governmental officers, and the remaining 20 of which shall be citizens of the Commonwealth, with various specified requirements, appointed by the Governor; these members will serve for a maximum of 2, 4 year terms (Sec 1A).
Specifies that the gubernatorial civilian appointees meet the following requirements (Sec 1A):
One appointee shall be a representative of a social justice organization;
One appointee shall be a mental health service provider;
At least one appointee shall represent the minority individuals within the community; and
The remainder of appointees shall represent broad categories of local and state governing and law enforcement bodies.
Establishes a Committee on Training and specifies the following requirements from the membership profile of the training body (Sec 2):
One appointee shall be a mental health service provider;
One appointee shall represent a social justice organization;
Two appointees shall represent community interests, at least one of whom shall represent the minority interests of the community; and
The remainder shall represent various criminal justice and law enforcement community interests.
