Highlights:

 

  • Establishes the following maximum perfluorochemicals containment levels for community water systems to improve drinking water standards, including (Ch. 485, Sec. 3):

    • Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) at 12 parts per trillion;

    • Perfluoroctansulfonic acid (PFOS) at 15 parts per trillion;

    • Perfluorohexanesulfonic acid (PFHxS) at 18 parts per trillion; and

    • Perfluoronananoic acid (PFNA) at 11 parts per trillion.

  • Requires the commissioner of the Department of Environmental Services to report to the speaker of the House of Representatives and the president of the Senate as well as the governor and chairpersons of various legislative committees on recommendations regarding the adjustment of the aforementioned maximum containment levels (Ch. 485, Sec. 3).

  • Authorizes the commissioner to adopt maximum containment levels different than the aforementioned containment levels (Ch. 485, Sec. 3).
