Title: Establishes the CROWN Act
Vote to pass a bill that establishes the CROWN Act, which prohibits discrimination based on hair styles or textures.
Defines “race” to include hair texture, hair type, or a protective hairstyle that is commonly or historically associated with race (Sec. 3-12).
Defines “protective hairstyle”to include such hairstyles as braids, locs, twists, tight coils or curls, cornrows, bantu knots, afros, and headwraps (Sec. 3-12).
Prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, including discrimination on the basis of hair texture, hair type, or a protective hairstyle that is commonly or historically associated with race, in the following Colorado Revised Statutes relating to education and employment (Sec. 3-12):
22-2-117;
22-30.5-104;
22-30.5-507;
22-32-109;
22-32-110;
