Title: Classifies the Crime of Child Endangerment as a First-Degree Felony
Vote to pass a bill that classifies the crime of child endangerment as a first-degree felony.
Expands the class D felony offense of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree to include knowingly encouraging a child less than 17 years of age to engage in any conduct which violates the provisions of chapter 571, relating to weapons offenses (Sec. A).
Specifies that the offense of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree is a class C felony if it is committed as a part of an act or a series of acts performed by 2 or more persons as part of an established pattern of activity, a class B felony if it results in serious physical injury to the child, and a class A felony if it results in the death of a child (Sec. A).
