Vote to pass a bill that classifies the crime of child endangerment as a first-degree felony.

Highlights:

• Expands the class D felony offense of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree to include knowingly encouraging a child less than 17 years of age to engage in any conduct which violates the provisions of chapter 571, relating to weapons offenses (Sec. A).

• Specifies that the offense of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree is a class C felony if it is committed as a part of an act or a series of acts performed by 2 or more persons as part of an established pattern of activity, a class B felony if it results in serious physical injury to the child, and a class A felony if it results in the death of a child (Sec. A).
