Title: Requires Clear Product Labeling on Plant-Based Meat Alternatives
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that requires clear product labeling on plant-based meat alternatives.
Prohibits any person, partnership, firm, company, or corporation from labelling, advertising, or otherwise representing any cell-cultured or plant-based food produced or sold in this state as meat or any product from an animal unless each product is clearly labeled (Sec. 1).
Specifies that cell-cultured products must display “lab-grown”, “lab created”, or “grown in a lab” prominently and conspicuously on the front of the package (Sec. 1).
Specifies that plant-based products must display “vegetarian”, “vegan”, “plant-based” or other similar term prominently and conspicuously on the front of the package (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this act goes into effect on December 31, 2020 (Sec. 2).
