Title: Amends Qualifications for the Executive Director of the Health Department
Vote to pass a bill that amends the qualifications for the role of executive director of the Utah Department of Health.
Requires the Department of Health’s executive director to meet the following qualifications if they are a physician (Sec. 1):
Hold a master’s degree of public health that has at least 3 years of professional full-time experience in a senior-level administrative role; or
Have at least a year of graduate work and at least 5 years of professional full-time experience, 3 of which must be in public health.
Requires the following qualifications for the role if the candidate is not a physician (Sec. 1):
Hold a master’s degree of public health or public administration; and
Have at least 5 years of professional full-time experience, 2 of which must be in public health; or
Have at least 5 years of full-time professional experience in public health, 3 of which must be in a senior-level, full-time capacity.
Requires the deputy director to be a physician if the executive director is not one themself (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this bill takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 2).
