Title: Requires Hospitals to Inform Expectant Mothers If They Are Going into Preterm Labor
Vote to pass a bill that requires hospitals to inform expectant mothers if they are going into preterm labor.
Requires general hospitals, when an expectant person presents with concerns about being in preterm labor, to do the following (Sec. 1):
Determine whether the expectant person is in preterm labor;
Upon diagnosis of preterm labor, admit the expectant person to the general hospital or treat them in the emergency room for close observation and continuous monitoring until it is deemed medically safe for discharge or stabilize and arrange for an appropriate transfer of such expectant person to another general hospital; and
Provide the expectant person with information concerning preterm labor and the potential health effects of preterm labor and premature birth delivery on the person and the fetus.
Requires an informational leaflet to be distributed to any expectant mother who presents at the hospital during pregnancy with information including (Sec. 1):
A statement that the medical assistance program provides coverage for all income-eligible pregnant persons and children regardless of immigration status; and
Information relating to preterm labor and premature birth including definitions and information on the risks that preterm labor and premature birth pose to the expectant person and fetus.
