Title: Increases the State Minimum Wage

Vote to concur with senate amendments and pass a bill that increases the state minimum wage.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits any person, firm, or corporation from employing any employee at an hourly rate lower than that set forth in the federal minimum wage law, as amended, or the following, whichever is higher (Sec. 1):

    • From January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2022, $10 per hour; and

    • From January 1, 2023, and thereafter $12 per hour.

  • Requires tipped employees of a restaurant, hotel, motel, inn or cabin, or ballroom who customarily and regularly receive more than $30 a month in tips, to receive a base rate from the employer of no less than $4 per hour (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that if an employee proves that the actual amount of wages received at the end of each pay period did not equal $12 per hour for all hours worked, the employer will pay the employee the difference to guarantee the $12 hourly rate (Sec. 1).

  • Requires tipped employees who are licensed as secondary game operators pursuant to RSA 287-D and who customarily and regularly receive more than $30 a month in tips, to receive a base rate from the employer of no less than $7.25 per hour (Sec. 1).
