Highlights:

 

  • Requires the Commissioner of Education’s African American History Task Force to examine ways to incorporate the 1920 Ocoee Election Day Riots into the Florida school curriculum (Sec. 1).

  • Requires the aforementioned task force to submit its recommendations to the State Board of Education by March 1, 2021 (Sec. 1).

  • Requires the Secretary of State to determine how state museums will incorporate the 1920 Ocoee Election Day Riots through exhibits and programs (Sec. 2).

  • Establishes that the second week in November shall be designated as “Holocaust Education Week” (Sec. 5).

  • Establishes that this bill takes effect on July 1, 2020 (Sec. 6).
