Title: Repeals Driving Privilege Suspensions for Failure to Pay Fines
Vote to pass a bill that repeals driving privilege suspensions for failure to pay fines, among other provisions.
Prohibits the Department of Transportation from suspending a license due to receiving a court order based on unpaid fines (Sec. 3).
Prohibits individuals from having their drivers’ license suspended if they failed or refused to pay a fine or obey a court order (Sec. 7).
Prohibits individuals from having their commercial drivers’ license suspended if they failed or refused to pay a fine or obey a court order (Sec. 9).
Establishes that this bill’s provisions apply to cases of license suspensions occurring on or after October 1, 2020 (Sec. 11).
Establishes that the Department of Transportation may adopt rules or take any actions before October 1 that are necessary for the department to uphold these rules (Sec. 12).
Establishes that this bill takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 13).
