Title: Prohibits Nursing Homes from Admitting or Retaining COVID-19 Positive Patients
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits nursing homes from admitting or retaining COVID-19 positive patients.
Requires the Department of Health and Human Services in consultation with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to evaluate each COVID-19 regional hub that was implemented in a nursing home and provide a detailed report of their evaluation to the house and senate standing committees on health policy by July 31, 2020 (Sec. 5145).
Requires the department to submit a plan to the house and senate standing committees on health policy by August 15, 2020, to ensure that dedicated facilities are available in each of the 8 health care regions by September 15, 2020, for only coronavirus-positive patients who are ineligible for admission at a nursing home (Sec. 5145).
Prohibits an individual from being admitted or retained for care in a nursing home if the individual has tested positive for coronavirus, beginning September 15, 2020 (Sec. 21717).
Specifies that individuals that have tested positive for coronavirus may be admitted or retained for care in a nursing home if they have since recovered from coronavirus or if the nursing home is able to provide a department-approved designated area and program to retain the individual in their facility (Sec. 21717).
