Title: Establishes Absentee Voting Requirements

Vote to pass a bill that establishes requirements for voting in the 2020 general election and prohibits the secretary of state from prepaying postage on absentee ballots or absentee ballot applications.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits any public official from causing an election to be conducted other than in the time, place, and manner prescribed by the Ohio Revised Code (Sec. 1).

  • Defines “public official” as any elected or appointed officer, employee, or agent of the state or political subdivision, agency, board commission, bureau, or other public body established by law (Sec. 1).

  • Requires an absentee ballot by mail application to be delivered to the Director of Election no later than 12 noon on the seventh day before the day of the election (Sec. 1).

  • Requires an application to receive an absentee ballot in person to be delivered to the Director no later than 6 pm on the last Friday before the day of the election (Sec. 1).

  • Prohibits the secretary of state or board of elections from prepaying the return postage for the application of an absentee ballot (Sec. 1).

  • Prohibits the secretary of state or board of election from prepaying the return postage on any uniformed services or overseas absentee voter’s ballot (Sec. 1).
