Vote to pass a bill that establishes a proposition election to determine whether sports wagering activities and operations will be permitted in a parish.

Highlights:

• Requires a proposition to appear on the ballot, at the statewide election on November 3, 2020, in every parish to determine whether sports wagering activities and operations will be authorized in the parish (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that following the approval of the proposition in the respective parish, sports wagering activities and operations will be authorized in such parish only after state laws providing for the licensing, regulation, and taxation of such activity and operations are enacted and become effective (Sec. 1).

• Requires the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, following the tentative legalization of sports wagering in any parish, to have all regulatory authority, control, and jurisdiction, including investigation, licensing, and enforcement (Sec. 2).

• Defines “sports wagering” as the business of accepting wagers on any sports event or sports contest by any system or method of wagering (Sec. 2).
