Title: Authorizes Local Governments to Advertise Online in Lieu of Newspaper Publications
Vote to override a veto and pass a bill that authorizes local governments to advertise online in lieu of newspaper publications.
Authorizes local governments to post required advertisements online on a website operated by the local government that is accessible to the public at all times (Sec 1).
Requires the local government to publish a one-time advertisement to notify the public that the full advertisement is available online that meets the following requirements (Sec 1):
Be no more than 6 column inches;
Be published within 10 days of the alternative posting on the local government website;
Inform the public of the subject matter of the alternative posting;
Inform the public of their rights to inspect documents related to the internet posting;
Provide a mailing and physical address where a copy of the documents may be obtained; and
Include the full web address of the advertisement (Sec 1).
Requires local governments to display access to any and all alternative Internet postings on the homepage of the website (Sec 1).
Requires local government websites to publish a notice on the website if an error in any publication includes an error or is not published within the appropriate timeline (Sec 2).
