  • Authorizes local boards of education to offer instruction in yoga to students in grades kindergarten through 12, subject to the following requirements (Sec. 1):

    • Each local board of education must have exclusive discretion to determine the duration and frequency of periods of instruction in yoga; 

    • All instruction in yoga must be limited exclusively to poses, exercises, and stretching techniques; 

    • All poses must be limited exclusively to sitting, standing, reclining, twisting, and balancing; 

    • All poses, exercises, and stretching techniques must have exclusively English descriptive names; and 

    • Chanting, mantras, mudras, use of mandalas, and namaste greetings are expressly prohibited.
