Title: Establishes the Washington State Office of Equity
Title: Establishes the Washington State Office of Equity
Vote to concur with senate amendments and pass a bill that establishes the Washington state office of equity.
Establishes the office of equity for the purpose of promoting access to equitable opportunities and resources that reduce disparities across state government agencies (Sec 3).
Specifies that the office of equity will be overseen by a director, who is chosen by the governor with the approval of the senate (Sec 4).
Authorizes the office of equity to assist agencies in applying an equity lens in agency decision making, program development, and policy development (Sec 5).
Authorizes the office of equity to provide assistance and training to agencies on maintaining a diverse, inclusive, and culturally sensitive workforce (Sec 5).
Establishes an outcome based methodology to determine the effectiveness of programs and services on reducing disparities (Sec 5).
Establishes an online performance dashboard to publish state performance measures and outcomes (Sec 5).
Requires the office of equity to publish performance reports of agencies in meeting the standards and objectives set forth by the office of equity (Sec 5).
Establishes a community advisory board to advise the office of equity on its priorities (Sec 6).
Requires each agency to designate a diversity, equity, and inclusion liaison to serve as the liaison between the office of equity and the agency (Sec 7).
