Title: Prohibits Commercial Surrogacy and Establishes a Committee to Study the Issue
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits commercial surrogacy in the state and establishes a committee to study the issue.
Defines “broker” as a person, agency, association, corporation, partnership, institution, society, or organization that knowingly seeks to introduce or to match a mother with a commercial surrogacy recipient for the purpose of initiating, assisting, or facilitating commercial surrogacy (Sec. 1).
Prohibits a broker who knowingly engages in, advertises services for, offers payment of, profits from, solicits a woman for, or otherwise assists or participates in commercial surrogacy (Sec. 2).
Specifies that anyone who violates the previous highlight is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor (Sec. 2).
Establishes an interim legislative committee to study and evaluate surrogacy within the state and will be supervised by the Executive Board of the Legislative Research Council (Sec. 4).
