Title: Prohibits Corporal Punishment in Schools
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits corporal punishment in public and private schools.
Defines “corporal punishment” as the deliberate infliction of severe physical pain on a student by any means intended to punish or discipline the student, including but not limited to paddling, striking, shaking, or spanking (Sec. 1).
Specifies that corporal punishment does not include reasonable athletic and military training (Sec. 1).
Prohibits school district employees, nonfaculty coaches, and nonfaculty assistants from using corporal punishment on any student (Sec. 1).
