Title: Repeals Township Assessor Offices
Vote to pass a bill that repeals remaining township assessors offices.
Repeals the township assessor position from primary election ballots (Sec. 1).
Repeals the township assessor position from general election ballots (Sec. 2).
Specifies that any vacancy in the position of township assessor may not be filled and that the office is abolished (Sec. 4).
Specifies that the county assessor shall assume the duties of the township assessor upon abolishment of the office (Sec. 5).
Specifies that each of the following are transferred to the county assessor upon abolishment of the township assessor’s office (Sec. 13):
Employment positions of all employees of the township assessor;
The real and personal property of the township assessor;
The outstanding obligations of the township assessor’s office;
The funds of the township assessor.
Specifies that an employee of an abolished township assessor’s office is entitled to remain in their position upon transfer of the duties to the county assessor (Sec. 13).
Specifies that any remaining township assessor’s office is abolished on January 1, 2023, and its duties transferred to the county assessor (Sec. 14).
Requires the county assessor to provide an interview to any employee of a township assessor before the office’s abolishment on January 1, 2023 (Sec. 14).
