Vote to pass a bill that establishes exceptions for assisted suicide to the 15-day waiting period for patients with less than 15 days to live.

Highlights:

• Requires a physician assisting with suicide to inform the patient that they can rescind their request of assisted suicide, and to offer the patient an opportunity to rescind at the time the patient makes their second oral request (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a patient expected to die within 15 days after making their first oral request, to reiterate their oral request to their physician at any time following their first oral request (Sec. 2).

• Authorizes a physician assisting with the suicide of an individual expected to die within 15 days after their first oral request, to write a prescription for medication at any time following the later of the patient’s written request or second oral request (Sec. 3).

• Amends the required documents or files within the patient’s medical record to include any medically confirmed certification of the imminence of the patient’s death (Sec. 4).
