A vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that would establish the creation of an ethics commission responsible for monitoring political contributions and upholding article XIV of the Constitution of North Dakota.

Highlights:

• Authorizes the legislative management to study the implementation and requirements of article XIV of the North Dakota Constitution concerning the transparency of funding sources, lobbyists, conflicts of interests, responsibilities of the legislative assembly and ethics commission, and the potential issues under the United States and state constitution (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the ethics commission shall review existing laws implemented to enact article XIV and consider whether they were appropriate or criminally violated, and that members of the commission be invited to participate on the study committee as non voting members (Sec. 1).
