Title: Expands Voting Rights for Convicted Individuals
Vote to pass a bill that expands the voting rights of ex-felons and individuals convicted of a crime but not imprisoned.
Expands eligibility for the right to vote to any individual that is not in prison, regardless of previous convictions and time spent in prison (Sec. 1 & 2).
Establishes that any individual convicted of a felony in Nevada, and who has served their sentence and been released from prison, has the right to serve as a juror in a civil action and has the right to vote immediately restored (Sec. 3).
Repeals the requirement of a county clerk to cancel the registration of an individual with a felony conviction after having been released from prison (Sec. 5).
Authorizes an elector, if their right to vote has been canceled, to reregister after being released from prison (Sec. 6).
Prohibits a county clerk from requiring evidence, a court order, or any other document from an elector in order to prove that the elector is eligible to vote (Sec. 6).
Establishes that this act becomes effective July 1, 2019 (Sec. 8).
