Vote to pass a bill that prohibits purchasing tobacco or tobacco products with electronic benefits transfer cards.

Highlights:

• Prohibits an individual from using public assistance funds to purchase tobacco or tobacco paraphernalia (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits the state from disqualifying an individual from receiving public assistance funds under this act unless they can clearly demonstrate the following (Sec. 1):

• The source of the funds withdrawn is public assistance;

• The state has informed the individual about the provisions of this act; and

• The individual has knowingly violated one of those provisions.

• Specifies that this act shall take effect 60 days upon passage (Sec. 2).
