A vote to pass a bill that requires the legislature, not the secretary of state, to publish proposed constitutional amendments to the public.
Amends state code to require that the state legislature publish proposed constitutional amendments to the public rather than the secretary of state (Sec. 1).
Requires that notification of proposed amendments be published once a month, in 2 newspapers in each congressional district, as well as on the state legislature’s website (Sec. 1).
Requires that proof of publication be filed by the state legislature in the office of the secretary of state (Sec. 2).
Specifies that expenses incurred by the requirements of this bill will be paid out of money appropriated to the secretary of state (Sec. 4).
Specifies that a proposed amendment cannot be determined invalid as a result of an error or omission in the published notification of said amendment (Sec. 5).
