Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits lodging establishments with more than 50 rooms from providing small plastic bottles containing personal care products beginning January 1, 2023, and lodging establishments with 50 rooms or less beginning January 1, 2024 (Sec. 1).

  • Defines “lodging establishment” as an establishment that contains one or more sleeping room accommodations that are rented or otherwise provided to the public, including, but not limited to a hotel, motel, resort, bed and breakfast inn, or vacation rental (Sec. 1).

  • Defines “personal care product” as a product intended to be applied to or used on the human body in the shower or bath and shall include only shampoo, hair conditioner, and bath soap (Sec. 1).

  • Defines “small plastic bottle” as a plastic bottle or container with less than a 6 ounce capacity that is intended to be nonreusable by the end user (Sec. 1).

  • Establishes that a lodging establishment found to be in violation of this act shall be liable for a civil penalty of $500 for the first offense and $2,000 dollars for a second or subsequent offense (Sec. 1).
