Title: Increases Stipends for State Legislators

Vote to pass a bill that increases stipends for state legislators.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes each member of the legislature to be paid for each day during a regular or special session that the member acts on a legislative matter, other than in regular or special session, on the prior approval of the presiding officer of the house of which that member is a member in an amount determined annually by the director of the department of administration, as follows (Sec. 2):

    • For a member whose permanent residence is within Maricopa County, 50 percent of the annual average federal per diem rate for Maricopa County, as determined by the federal General Services Administration (GSA).

    • For a member whose permanent residence is outside Maricopa County, 100 percent of the annual average federal per diem rate for Maricopa County, as determined by the federal GSA.

  • Authorizes each member of the legislature shall be paid 50 percent of the amount determined annually by the director of the Department of Administration, after the first 120 days of a regular session (Sec. 2).
