Vote to pass a bill that reduces the amount individuals are required to pay for no-fault auto insurance.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes the following tiers of personal protection insurance benefits (Sec. 3107C):

    • A limit per person per loss occurrence consisting of a $50,000 limit for any personal protection insurance benefits and an additional $200,000 for medically necessary treatment rendered at an acute care unit or trauma center of a hospital immediately after the accidental bodily injury and until the patient is stable;

    • A limit of $250,000 per individual per loss occurrence for any personal protection insurance benefits;

    • A limit of $500,000 per individual per loss occurrence for any personal protection insurance benefits; or

    • No limit for personal protection protection insurance benefits.

  • Requires persons seeking an auto insurance policy to provide the insurer with a document that states the person named in the policy has qualified health coverage (Sec. 3107D).

  • Defines “qualified health coverage” as the following (Sec 3107D):

    • Other health or accident coverage that does not exclude or limit coverage for injuries related to motor vehicle accidents;

    • Coverage under the federal Medicare program; or

    • Medicaid coverage under a program for medical assistance.
