Title: Authorizes Confidentiality Requirements for Public Employee Retirement Records
A vote to pass a bill that authorizes confidentiality requirements for public employee retirement records.
Requires the Public Employees’ Retirement Board to keep the following information about a current or former member of a public retirement system confidential (Sec. 1):
The identification number of the former member;
The last public employer of the current or former member;
The number of years of service credit the current or former member has with the public retirement system;
The retirement date of the current or former member;
The amount of annual pension benefit paid to the current or former member; and
Whether the current or former member receives a disability retirement allowance or a service retirement allowance from the public retirement system.
Specifies that any of the above information may only be disclosed to a third party if (Sec. 1):
Such disclosure is necessary for the Board to carry out its duties; and
The Board executes a confidentiality agreement with the third party before providing the third party with any confidential information.
Defines “identification number” as the unique number assigned by the public retirement system to the record or file of each current or former member or beneficiary of such a member (Sec. 1).
