Title: Requires Annual Fee for Electric Cars
Vote to pass a bill that requires electric car owners pay an annual fee.
Defines “battery electricity motor vehicle” as a motor vehicle equipped with electrical drivetrain components and not equipped with an internal combustion engine, that is propelled exclusively by one or more electrical motos using electrical energy stored in a batter or other energy storage device that can be recharged by plugging into an electrical outlet or charging station (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the amount of each fee will be as follows (Sec. 1):
$65 or the period beginning January 1, 2020 and ending December 31, 2020;
$97.50 for the period beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2021;
$130 on or after January 1, 2022.
Requires owners of battery-powered motorcycles or plug-in hybrid electric motor vehicle to pay an annual electric motorcycle registration fee (Sec. 2) .
Specifies that the amount of each motorcycle fee will be as follows (Sec. 2):
$4.50 for the period beginning January 1, 2020 and ending December 31, 2020;
$6.75 for the period beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 20201;
$9 on or after January 1, 2022.
