Vote to pass a bill that prohibits government entities from discriminating based on a company's internal policies.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits a government entity from taking discriminatory action against a business entity based on the policies of the business regarding the following, so long as the policies are in compliance with state and federal law, including (Sec. 1):

    • Health insurance policies and coverage provided;

    • Family leave policies;

    • Minimum wage policies; and

    • Anti-discrimination policies.

  • Defines “business entity” as the sole proprietorship, corporation, limited liability company, limited liability partnership, or other legal entity, association, or body with the power of a legal entity (Sec. 1).

  • Defines “discriminatory action” as any action taken by a government entity to do the following, including (Sec. 1):

    • Altering the tax treatment, causing any tax penalty, or payment to be assessed against the business entity;

    • Deny, delay, or revoke any business entity’s exemption from taxation;

    • Withhold, reduce, exclude, terminate, deny, or otherwise make unavailable any grant, contract, cooperative agreement, bond issue license, certification, or similar opportunity;

    • Withhold, reduce, exclude, terminate, deny, or otherwise make unavailable access to a properties, facilities, or charitable fundraising campaigns.

  • Defines “government entity” as any branch, department, agency, commission, or instrumentality of this state and any official or other person acting under state law (Sec. 1).
