Title: Authorizes Employers to Pay Less than Minimum Wage to Full-Time Students
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes employers to pay less then minimum wage to full-time students that are younger than 22 years of age working 20 hours or less a week.
Defines “casual basis” employment as either (Sec. 1):
Employees under 22 years of age that do no exceed 20 hours of work per week; or
Employees under 22 years of age that irregularly exceed 20 hours of work per week.
Authorizes employers to pay a wage equal to or greater than the federal minimum wage to employees who are all of the following (Sec. 3):
Under 22 years of age;
Employed on a “causal basis;” and
Enrolled as a full time student.
Authorizes employers to negotiate other terms and conditions of employment with employees who are all of the following (Sec. 3):
Under 22 years of age;
Employed on a casual basis; and
Enrolled as a full time student.
