Vote to pass a bill that prohibits oil and gas exploration in the State's coastal waters.

Highlights:

 

  • Prohibits the Department of State Lands from leasing any of the submerged and submersible lands within the territorial sea for the following, including, but not limited to (Sec. 4):

    • The exploration, development, or production of oil, gas or sulfur in the territorial sea; or

    • Activities in the furtherance of the exploration, development or production of oil, gas or sulfur within federal waters adjacent to the territorial sea.

  • Specifies that nothing in this act is intended to impair or supersede any conflicting federal law applicable within the territorial sea (Sec. 4).
