Title: Amends Presidential Primary Dates
Vote to pass a bill that amends the Presidential primaries date.
Amends current law over the primary date in the state of Washington by replacing the “Fourth Tuesday in March” primary date with the “Second Tuesday in March” (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the proposed date must not be prior to the earliest date permitted by the national rules of the major political parties (Sec. 1).
Requires a ballot for a party contain a place for the voter to indicate their preference for having delegates to the party’s national convention remain uncommitted (Sec. 3).
Authorizes a major political party, under national or state party rules, base the allocation of delegates from this state to the national nominating convention of that party in whole or in part on the participation in precinct caucuses and conventions conducted under the rules of that party (Sec. 4).
