Title: Requires Background Checks for Gun Sales

Vote to pass a bill that requires background checks for gun sales.

  • Specifies that the unlawful sale of a firearm without a background check consists of the sale of a firearm without conducting a federal instant background check where the sale is made for a fee or other consideration (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that the provisions of this section do not apply to the sale of a firearm to the following (Sec. 1):

    • By or to an individual who holds a current and valid federal firearms license;

    • To a law enforcement agency; or

    • Between two law enforcement officers certified pursuant to the Law Enforcement Training Act and authorized to carry a firearm.

  • Authorizes that each party to an unlawful sale in violation to be separately charged for the same sale (Sec. 1).
