Title: Amends Election Laws

Vote to pass a bill that amends the state's election laws.

Highlights:

  • Specifies that the following information about an elector is subject to inspection as a public record (Sec. 21):

    • The major or minor political party with which an elector is affiliated;

    • The elector’s address;

    • The elector’s birth year;

    • The name or number of the elector’s precinct;

    • The elector’s precinct split;

    • The elector’s administrative number;

    • The elector’s telephone number;

    • The elector’s participation history in past elections; and

    • The ballot status of an elector during an election period. 

  • Defines “ballot status” as whether or not an elector has cast a ballot in the election (Sec. 21).

  • Defines “precinct split” as the enhanced precinct name or number used to determine the specific ballot configuration that will be received by an elector who resides in a precinct that (Sec. 21):

    • Has more than one election district subdivision; and

    • Requires more than one ballot configuration for electors in the precinct.

  • Specifies that the following information about an elector is not subject to inspection as a public record (Sec. 21):

    • The elector’s date of birth;

    • The elector’s social security number;

    • The elector’s driver license number; and

    • The elector’s signature. 

  • Specifies that this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety (Sec. 23).
