Title: Establishes the Criminal Justice Reclassification Coordination Council
Vote to adopt a conference report that establishes the Criminal Justice Reclassification Coordination Council which will review and recommend the classification of all felonies under Oklahoma law.
Establishes the Criminal Justice Reclassification Coordination Council (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the Council shall review and recommend the following (Sec. 1):
The classification of all felonies into appropriate categories;
Appropriate sentence lengths for each class of felonies;
Appropriate enhanced sentences for habitual offenders; and
Other appropriate changes to improve the criminal justice system.
Specifies that the recommendations of the council shall intend to reduce or hold neutral the prison population (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the Council will be made up of 22 members consisting of law enforcement officers, attorneys, and various public officials (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the members of the Council shall not receive compensation, but may receive travel reimbursement (Sec. 1).
Specifies that meetings of the Council shall be open to the public (Sec. 1).
