Title: Authorizes Interception of Wire, Electronic, or Oral Communications
Vote to amend a bill that authorizes the Attorney General to give law enforcement officials permission to intercept wire, electronic, or oral communication devices.
Authorizes Attorney General to make written applications to a superior court judge for an order allowing the interception of a wire, electronic, or oral communication by law enforcement officers.
Specifies that law enforcement officers must be responsible for an investigation involving suspected criminal activities and interception must provide evidence of the following offenses:
Offenses dangerous to life, limb, or property or;
Offenses punishable by imprisonment for more than a year
Specifies that in the absence of the Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General or District Attorney of the county may assume these responsibilities.
Prohibits buying or exchanging federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, such as coupons, stamps, or authorization cards.
Establishes a second degree felony for offenders if the amount involved is $2,500 or more.
Establishes a third degree felony for offenders if the amount involved is $1,000 or more, but less than $2,500.
Establishes a first degree misdemeanor for offenders if the amount involved is less than $1,000.
Specifies that this act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
