Vote to pass a bill that requires high school students pass a citizenship test prior to graduation.
Requires an individual to complete a citizenship exam with a minimum score of 60 percent in order to be eligible for a high school diploma or equivalent certificate (Sec. 1-3).
Specifies that individuals may take the exam any time beginning in 8th grade and is allowed to take it as many times as necessary (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the examination be identical to the material tested on the 100 question United States Civics Test administered by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this requirement goes into effect beginning with the 2020-2021 school year (Sec. 1-3).
