Title: Amends Sentencing Requirements for Certain Crimes

  •  Specifies the following guidelines for misdemeanor sentencing (Sec. 2):

    • For Class 2 misdemeanors, a minimum of 3 months imprisonment, a $250 dollar fine, or both up to a maximum of 364 days of imprisonment, $1,000 dollar fine, or both; and

    • For Class 3 misdemeanors, a minimum of a $50 dollar fine up to 6 months of imprisonment, $750 dollar fine, or both.

  • Specifies the following guidelines for drug misdemeanor sentencing (Sec. 2):

    • For Level 1 drug misdemeanors, a minimum of 6 months imprisonment, a $500 dollar fine, or both up to a maximum of 18 months of imprisonment, a $5,000 dollar fine, or both; and

    • For Level 2 drug misdemeanors, a minimum of a $50 dollar fine up to a maximum of 364 days of imprisonment, a $750 dollar fine, or both.

  • Requires misdemeanors with no penalties fixed in the statute, to be punished with a maximum of 364 days of imprisonment, a $1,000 fine, or both (Sec. 3).

  • Specifies that this will be effective the day after the 90 day period following the final adjournment of the general assembly (Sec. 4).
