Title: Prohibits Jurisdictions From Establishing Sanctuary Status
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits jurisdictions under the state from establishing sanctuary status.
Prohibits jurisdictions from (Sec. 2):
Restricting officials and employees from communicating with federal agencies information regarding the citizenship or immigration status of any individual; and
Restricting the state or any of its subdivisions from communicating with federal agencies information regarding the citizenship or immigration status of any individual;
Requires the governing body of any county, city, or municipality to submit an annual, written report indicating that (Sec. 2):
It is in compliance with the aforementioned requirements;
It has not been notified by the federal government that it is not in compliance with federal immigration law; and
It has not been denied federal grant money.
Specifies that this applies to jurisdictions with populations of 25,000 (Sec. 2).
Requires these reports to be submitted from January 1, 2020 through January 1, 2030 (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this act takes effect July 1, 2019 (Sec. 3).
