A vote to pass a bill that establishes a 9 day period for early voting.

Highlights:

 

  • Requires that individuals that are duly registered and eligible to vote be permitted to vote beginning the 10 days prior to any election and ending on the second day prior to the election (Sec. 8-600).

  • Requires the board of elections to establish procedures, subject to the the approval of the state board of elections, to ensure that individuals that vote during the early voting period will not be permitted to vote subsequently in the same election (Sec. 8-600).

  • Requires the Board of Elections to designate polling places for early voting, which can include the offices of the Board of Elections, for individuals to vote early (Sec. 8-600).

  • Requires that there be at least one, but no more than seven, early voting polling place for every full increment of fifty thousand registered voters in each county (Sec. 8-600).

  • Authorizes the board of elections of each county or the city of New York to establish additional polling places for early voting in excess of the minimum number required for convenience of eligible voters (Sec. 8-600).

  • Authorizes any voter to vote at any polling place for early voting in the county where such voter is registered (Sec. 8-600).
