  • Prohibits an employer to pay any employee at a rate that is less than prescribed in this act (Sec. 3).

  • Specifies that the minimum hourly wage rate is as follows (Sec. 4):

    • Before September 1, 2014, $7.40 and beginning September 1, 2014, $8.15;

    • Beginning January 1, 2016, $8.50 and beginning January 1, 2017 $8.90;

    • Beginning January 1, 2018 $9.25 and in calendar year 2019, $9.45;

    • In calendar year 2020, $9.65 and in calendar year 2021, $9.87;

    • In calendar year 2022, $10.10 and in calendar year 2023, $10.33;

  • Specifies that starting  January 1, 2019, the minimum wage is raised to $9.48 (Sec. 4).

  • Requires that the minimum wage rate to be increased by $0.23 until it equals $12 beginning January 1st 2020 (Sec. 4).

  • Specifies that an increase in the minimum wage rate does not take effect until January 1 or until the unemployment rate for this state, as determined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, United States Department of Labor, is less than 8.4 percent for the year immediately preceding that January 1 (Sec. 4).

  • Specifies that the minimum hourly wage rate of an employee is as follows (Sec. 4):

    • Beginning the effective date of the 2018 amendatory act that amended this section, $3.52;

    • Beginning January 1, 2019, $3.56 and $3.60 beginning January 1, 2020;

    • Beginning January 1, 2021, $3.64 and $3.68 beginning January 1, 2022;

    • Beginning January 1, 2023, $3.72 and $3.76 beginning January 1, 2024;

    • Beginning January 1, 2025, $3.80 and $3.84 beginning January 1, 2026;

    • Beginning January 1, 2027, $3.88 and $3.92 beginning January 1, 2028; and

    • Beginning January 1, 2029, $3.96 and $4.00 beginning January 1, 2030.

  • Specifies that this this act does not apply to an individual who is 16 years of age or older but less than 21 years of age in his or her capacity as an ice hockey player for a junior ice hockey team that is a member of a regional, national, or international junior ice hockey league (Sec. 4).
