Title: Expands State Tax on Aviation Fuel

Vote to pass a bill that expands the states tax on aviation fuel.

Highlights:

 

  • Amends the definition of “aviation fuel” to include aviation gasoline, aviation grade kerosene or any other mixed or blended fuel that is used to power an aircraft into flight (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that beginning July 1, 2019 nonlapsing funds held in the Special Transportation Fund gathered from revenues generated from the increased aviation fuel tax will fund the costs of the following construction projects, including, but not limited to (Sec. 3):

    • The Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation rail service to Newark Liberty International Airport; or

    • The repair, planning, and engineering of capital projects at airports, local airport systems, and other local facilities owned or operated by the airport.

  • Establishes that these revenue funds will remain annually appropriated from the Special Transportation Fund to cover the costs of the above mentioned projects until completion (Sec. 3).

  • Specifies that this act will go into effect 90 days after the passage of this bill (Sec. 4).
