Title: Requires Beverages Included in Kids' Meals to be Milk or Water
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that requires a restaurant that sells a kid's meal that includes a beverage to make the default beverage water, milk, or a nondairy milk alternative.
Requires a restaurant that sells a children’s meal that includes a beverage to make the default beverage water, sparkling water, flavored water, unflavored milk or a non dairy milk alternative (Sec. 2).
Prohibits the nondairy milk alternative from having more than 130 calories per container or serving (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this bill does not prohibit a restaurant from selling an alternative beverage if the purchaser requests one (Sec. 2).
Authorizes a warning for first-time violations but requires a fine of up to $250 and $500, respectively, for a second or third violation in any 5-year period (Sec. 2).
Specifies that no reimbursement from the State is required, but if the Commission on State Mandates determines that this bill contains other costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for such must be made (Sec. 3).
