Highlights:

 

  • Repeals the provision that requires student academic growth as determined by state assessments be included in teacher evaluations (Sec. 1).

  • Requires that non-teaching employees serve a minimum of 1 contract of 1 year in length and 3 contracts of 2 years in length each before becoming eligible for a continuing contract (Sec. 1).

  • Authorizes schools to administer state assessments in the form of paper tests for third grade beginning in the 2019-2020 school year (Sec. 1).

  • Authorizes schools to temporarily employ teachers to teach a subject area for which they are not licensed pending the teacher’s supplemental license in that subject area (Sec. 1).
