Vote to pass a bill that authorizes first-time offenders accused of prostitution or solicitation to enroll in a diversion program to have the charges dropped.

Highlights:

• Authorizes courts to dismiss a first offense of prostitution or solicitation if a defendant successfully completes a commercial sexual exploitation prevention program (Sec. 12).

• Specifies that a defendant is not eligible for the program if the court determines that (Sec. 12):

• They have previously been admitted to the program for a separate sex crime;

• They have already been convicted of  prostitution or solicitation; or

• They are a registered sex offender in Massachusetts or another state.
