  • Increases the minimum age for marriage to 18 with a few exceptions (Sec. 1).

  • Authorizes a 17-year-old to get married only if a juvenile court files a consent to the marriage (Sec. 1).

  • Requires a juvenile court to obtain authorization from a 17-year-old’s parent or guardian prior to filing consent to their marriage (Sec. 1).

  • Prohibits a 17-year-old from marrying an individual who is more than 4 years older (Sec. 1).
