Vote to pass a bill that prohibits gas chambers as a method of euthanasia for pets.

Highlights:

• Prohibits animal shelters from using a carbon monoxide gas chamber, carbon dioxide gas chamber, or any other non-anesthetic inhalant to euthanize an animal (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the above prohibition does not apply if the state’s veterinary medical licensing board declares a shortage of approved lethal injection substances (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes police officers to use drugs or chemicals listed as dangerous by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the purpose of capturing an animal if such capture occurs within the scope of the officer’s duties (Sec. 1).
