Vote to pass a bill that increases the minimum age for marriage to 16.



  • Authorizes a 16-year-old to marry another individual between the ages of 16 and 20 with written consent of a parent or guardian (Secs. A-1 &  A-2).

  • Prohibits marriage without the consent of a parent or guardian of any individual under the age of 18 (Sec. A-2).

  • Prohibits anyone 21 or older from marrying an individual below the age of 18 (Sec. A-2).

  • Requires the name of the parent or guardian consenting to marriage of a minor to be listed on the minor’s marriage license (Sec. A-3).
